BLM declares Burning Man Second Amendment-free zone

Second, where does this guy get off, dictating away the right to keep and bear arms? Who first decided there was a “need” to do this? Who authorized it? What is the approval process? Did it have to go beyond a district manager? What other federal agencies think they have this power? Can any bureaucrat declare himself the boss of you, or does one need to be a certain pay grade? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report smells something burning, and it's not what the hippies are smoking or torching.

What self respecting gun owner would go to BurningMan anhow? You probably would leave there smelling of dope smoke.

That's not the point. If the feds can do it there, under those pretexts, they can do it anywhere.

The "Burning Man" people ought to be ready for any war against the government. These were the same people many call the "militia" of the 2A (actually the National Guard, another branch of the Fed's standing army) which shot down at least four Kent State students.

Right on, David. And Anon, you might be surprised at how many potential and actual allies that gunnies may have at Burning Man.

I admit I'm harboring some hope that this will become a bigger deal than the enforcemer-thugs are counting on. In my experience, it's a common Burning Man personality trait to be disinterested in a particular topic right up until the point where someone tells you what you can and can't do with it. At that point, suddenly they'd like two, thanks.

I don't know offhand if John Gilmore is a gun owner, but he's a very neat guy in other respects, including being at the center of the papersplease.org lawsuits where the government was outed as arging that there was a law that required papers, and no, we peons can't see it because it's a secret law (the fedgov "won" on that argument as well).

John Gilmore has provided 'net connectivity at past Burning Man events, and is certainly liberty-minded if not an active carrier of arms.

So, long story short, feds can't be allowed to get away with this usurpation and subversion anywhere.
