Ohio police dog dies after being left in hot patrol car [More]And we've had some hot days recently, the kind where you open up your car to get in and have to leave the doors open and get the air conditioning going, and you can't rest your arm on anything that's been exposed to sunlight.
What a way to die. What an inexcusable thing to do.

You'd think the frickin' police would know better. But, since they shoot the wrong person five times as often as the armed citizen does, this isn't so surprising.
It's my understanding that if you or I harmed a police dog: we would be prosecuted as if we had assaulted a human officer.
What punishment will this 'only one' receive for killing his partner?
This was 1st degree murder of a police officer. The perp should be tried, convicted, and executed.
So far, he has been suspended for 45 days.
Had an incident of the same sort down here in Alamo Town this past weekend. Deputy Sheriff left TWO expensive police-trained German Shepherds in his dept. SUV and cooked 'em to death (we've been at or above 100 every day for a while now) in the heat.
But, HEY!, no shortage of taxpayer money, right? Always more where that came from.
It's inexcusable, I agree. I wouldn't want to work with somebody who ignored his partner like that and let him die. If there's plenty of money for equipment, then there's plenty of money to buy a K-9 heat alarm for the vehicle. They don't totally prevent stupidity, but they sure make noise so stupidity is harder to commit.
