Bulletproofing Utica

At present, Utica-area criminals can legally travel to other states and buy guns with cash and no questions asked. [More]
See, it's how you couch the lie.He said "legally travel," not "legally buy," but he's counting on readers not making that distinction.

If they're "criminals," what the hell are they doing out free to travel among us in the first place?

And then there's this:
I’m not saying we need new gun restrictions to beat this back. We just need to enforce laws already on the books. We must demand Congress fix the broken background check system.
In other words, he thinks we need new restrictions in the form of a federal ban on private sales.

And then there's this:
It’s entirely possible to support the right to bear arms, just as I do...
As for his confidence that he can "get illegal guns off the street" by imposing more restrictions on you and me, let's take a look at something more directly under his control and see if all the potholes are gone yet.

Not as of two months before he announced he would not seek reelection...

"...up by 220%!!!!" Oh, noes!!!!

Except there are no raw numbers for context. What if it's 10 calls last year and 22 this year? I wouldn't get real excited about those numbers, but that's a "whopping" 220%.
