Gun control laws useless at stopping Wisconsin spa shooter

“As part of the order, Haughton was prohibited from owning a firearm,” the CBS Crimesider report confirms, citing Brookfield Police Chief Dan Tushaus, who “declined to elaborate on the circumstances of whether Haughton had surrendered any weapons prior to Sunday's salon rampage.” [More]

Or put it another way. Gun control laws were every bit as effective in protecting the people in that spa as they ever have been, are, or ever will be.

Had he not killed himself after killing the others, he would have been arrested and charged. Since he did not care to live long enough to be arrested, the laws had no useful effect.

How can you stop someone from doing something terrible beforehand if they do not fear consequences? You really can not, unless someone is armed and is willing to act once such an individual draws his weapon to harm others.
