"The last thing I want to do is for a guy to go to his car and come back shooting," said Levine... [More]
Well, doesn't that just tell you what "Outdoor Sports Group" thinks of gun owners? You can tell Mr. Levine what you think of the way he portrays his customers to the media: marc@osgshows.com

UPDATE: The allegation that the reporter made this quote up is being tracked down.

I sent Mr. Levine an email suggesting that he consider Micky D's (I'm thinking drive-through window) as a possible future employment option. I also CC'd the other folks listed on the OSG web site:
tom@osgshows.com
rick@osgshows.com
jennifer@osgshows.com

Then I reconsidered and sent another email retracting that suggestion. He was stupid enough to to publicly state that his customers were foolish to expect firearms for sale at the "Chicagoland Gun Show", and to give an media interview saying that his hoodwinked customers might commit murder over the fraud. Even if he meant that as a joke, it was an astounding display of poor judgement to say such a thing to a Chicago reporter.

Micky D's wouldn't hire him either. They have a reputation to uphold.

Markie Marxist sez: "That sounds like a really good gun show from the communist perspective - nothing for sale; no guns, no cartridges, no gunpowder, no bullets. Because if people could actually buy stuff that would be capitalism, and if they could buy gun stuff then that would be freedom, and we commies certainly don't want either of those things happening, do we? It wouldn't be the Chicago way, now would it?"

"The event was always about outdoor sporting, he said, adding that he never intended to have high-powered weapons available.

"This show is not about assault weapons," said Rosalina. "It's about shotguns and hunting guns."

Fudd ......... apparently it escapes him that hunting rifles are generally the "high power" tools rather than the mid caliber regime change rifles .

UPDATE: OSG's Marc Levine is back. He just offered me free admission to OSG's guns show in Illinois and New Jersey.

I declined, unless he'll also cover travel, lodging (I'm in NH), and legal expenses for exercising a Constitutionally protected right to bear arms in those occupied territories.

I also wondered if they'd actually have any guns at the shows (at least one of which is specifically listed as a gun show).

So far as I could find, the Trib never retracted/corrected that Levine quote.
