Things to Come?

"There is absolutely no deterrent in technology except against those who would abide by the law, and for them I see harassment, denials, and increased costs," said David Codrea, author of The War on Guns. Another concern would be that someone with nefarious motives could hack the system via some sort of "master key," said Codrea. Such fears, along with costs, could certainly limit adoption. [More]
Actually, it's not so much someone hacking in as the cops having a remote shutoff switch that I was referring to.

Still, I appreciate the mention in a tech venue that has a different readership from the one I usually can reach out to.

The free marketplace should be where gun technology decisions are made, but with such a surplus of Marxist thugs in government as we have these days, that idea seems to have gone out with the Reagan administration. Big Brother is calling the shots now, and he does as he pleases.
I do not want such complex, expensive and potentially fallible technology on my guns. For liberals who live in la-la land, it will sound like a wonderful idea, but with decades of actual gun experience, I know that it is difficult enough to get a simple, mechanical gun to work reliably. I do not believe that goofy, glad handing politicians, such as the despicable governor of New York, will think for a moment about whether or not such guns will be reliable enough to satisfy people's need for self-defense, and they might even gladly use the failures of high tech guns as another excuse to ban all guns as entirely as they can.
Smart guns are an ignorant idea.

Markie Marxist sez: "Exactly! That's why we commies are so keen on applying technology to guns! Let's see, first we'll make the gun owner call to get permission to unlock the gun, so that it can fire, but we'll have about a million reasons why we can't unlock it, then we'll say that since relying on guns is getting gun owners killed, we have to ban guns to make gun owners safe! Ha! Ha! Heads, we commies win, and tails, gun owners lose! That's what happens when we have a two-sided coin and we're the only ones flipping it! Ha! Ha! All your smart gun technology are belong to us! Ha! Ha!"

As I said, David, "EMP". Any "smart gun" will be disabled by this when the Goddamned government declares war upon us.
