David, do you find this screaming USA editorial alarming?

"Gun 'straw purchases' should burn"

Plus, ...

"Senate vote to crack down on gun trafficking is a good first step."

I'm always concerned when they say "first step." After all, what's the final solution?

"In 2010 (the latest year available), according to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, 6 million Americans applied to buy a gun through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Of those, fewer than 1.2% — more than 72,000 — were denied."

So, 98.8% of the time, the NICS system does (nearly) NOTHING! It doesn't stop a crime 98.8% of the time. It doesn't prevent a prohibited person 98.8% of the time. It doesn't alert Law Imposement to a crime in progress 98.8% of the time.

It does one thing every time. It reconditions every buyer to the notion that they MUST beg permission from the FBI before they can exercise a Constitutionally secured Right!

America, wake the fuck up!
