We're the Only Ones Expired Enough

Part of a police officer's job is to carrying a gun, but now more than 20 officers in Quincy are off the job after a surprise inspection found they had expired gun permits.

The news stunned lot of people and some Quincy residents are outraged that 15 patrol officers and six supervisors are now on paid leave. [More]
Who do these guys think they are?

Heather Fong?

And then there's this:
Some departments allow officers to carry guns "on the badge," meaning they don't need a permit. The badge itself gives them the right to carry the gun.
So it is the magic amulet that makes them so much better than you and me... thank goodness their grip on the public purse is strong enough to guarantee they still get paid for doing nothing as a result of their own lazy negligence!

Oh, let me assure you that they do not "get paid for doing nothing". If they fail to do their Masters' bidding, those paychecks stop very quickly. But as long as the checks keep comin', the Praetorian Guard cares not one whit about their oath of office.
