I don't think it's a conspiricy. I think it's simply a system that is overloaded because you, I, and everybody with a gun wants to buy 1000 rounds of ammo.

Our "just in time" delivery model saves warehouse space. Common manufacturing principles tell us not to build way too much capacity. Between the two, we've got more ammo being sold than being produced, with no reserves in stock to keep up with the surge.

This parallels my thoughts from the start. Standing orders to 'ship on demand' tying up the supply chain.

And why so much .40 cal which is not a military standard caliber?

When things go south will Nappy Napolitano gift some of this to the local coppers to keep them dancing to her tune?
