While I support the family in their fight to regain their property and rights, the lawyer's plea irks me, just a little.

"must raise $9,400 . . ."

Must? Why? For what? Filing fees; copier costs, lunch with the prosecution team?

If the lawyer and his firm are truly involved, why not pro bono?

I ask because it seems that nearly every issue we have these days can be traced by to some lawyer's/judge's inability to read the Constitution. The prosecution is paid by the state (taxpayers) while the defense must pay the defenders, and even if the defense wins, ion most cases cannot gets fees and costs reimbursed by the state.

Why, it's almost as if the maintenance of such a slipshod system is due to profit.

Soapbox off . . .

OK, HOW do you support the family? If you don't like this venue, The Firearms Coalition has also set up a help fund

http://www.firearmscoalition.org/

or a check can be sent to Reese Defense Fund, Attention Patricia Arias, First Savings Bank, 520 South Gold, Deming, NM 88030

Lawyers need to eat and pay bills too I don't know any who can just foot this pro bono, and it seems a lot more fair for everyone if bunches of us just kick in small amount.
