Notes from the Resistance...

Just a small correction:
Dr. Drick Boyd isn't Mennonite, even if his paper is on MCC, a Mennonite website; he's with Eastern University, affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA.
However, as /wiki/Evangelical_left points out:
Unlike many evangelicals, however, the evangelical left supports what are often considered "liberal" or "left wing" political policies...supportive of gun control...While members of the evangelical left chiefly reside in mainline denominations, they are often heavily influenced by the Anabaptist [Mennonite] social tradition.
They're mostly good-hearted folks who have abandoned the traditional avoidance of State politics (like my grandpa taught,) and fallen into the error of worshiping the "monopoly of violence" State to evangelize their pacifist "non-violence" theology.
To be sure, the typical conservative rural Mennonite thinks their position is overwrought too; the conservative Mennonite term for people who go to liberal Mennonite colleges is "Menno-f*%ked." ;)
