I carry daily and even at my part time job. In the event I need to go, I have never forgot my pistol. Picking it up after doing business is just normal.
How do you not miss a couple of pounds of steel hanging off your belt? How do you forget you even have it? I'm always conscious of the weight on my hip and it's noticeable when it's not there.
I can't see how anyone would forget it, especially in a public place such as that. That's like forgetting a child or something. While I understand the point-of-view of the father, I'm sure, as a Marine, he's been subject to leaving or forgetting his weapon somewhere before.
Reporting a day earlier had a different slant when the gun owner was unknown:

I hope TPD and FDLE still test the pistol to see whether it has ever been used in a crime. Why should the most recent owner of the pistol make a difference?
