The Virtual Opiate of the Masses

They thrive on "the old ultra-violence," but they don't want people watching it to behave that way. Maybe it's an engineered form of release, so that people can vicariously act out in their heads what a schizophrenic culture drives the weaker ones into acting out...and maybe, like drugs, what was once an adequate dose no longer satisfies, and they need to provide bigger and more and... [More]

Either that or it's easier than coming up with compelling stories and characters, and that wouldn't have mass appeal for the herd...

Beats me.

Maybe it's only a movie, at least to those with self-control, and anyone who can't be trusted to watch it or to play a "violent" video game without acting out in the real world can't be trusted without a watcher and a controller...

Maybe some are counting on that...
