A child somehow managed to grab a New Jersey police chief’s service weapon Tuesday afternoon and shoot him in the leg. [More]
When I think of all those times my children grabbed my gun and shot me ... thank goodness a trained professional was on scene.
"The child, described as a preteen"? That seems less like toddler impulsiveness and more like daddy issues...

So, will charges be filed against this government employee for not securing his firearm and letting a child access it? Or will he be given "professional courtesy"?
The kid had the right idea, but just aimed too low (both literally and figuratively). The kid saw his/her parents being robbed, and disarmed the gang's gunman and shot him with his own weapon. That's a proper response to an armed robbery in progress. Why people pretend the right thing to do changes when the robbers wear badges or sit behind a counter bewilders me.
(Yeah, I know the kid probably didn't really do it on purpose. Too bad.)
