Gun threat against ‘Joe the Plumber’ warrants investigation

One does not know if “Jerry Gregory’s” comment is merely rhetorical or if he’s serious, and if he actually has the motive, means and opportunity to carry out his stated intent. When a stranger threatens to shoot you, it’s probably not a good idea to automatically write it off as being frivolous, especially since it’s pretty obvious this guy is not in a joking mood and since that’s the kind of crazy talk dangerous loons might actually engage in. The person who made that comment sounds genuinely unhinged. Plus, if you need to end up defending yourself, it would help to have a record of a police report, just as legal protection in case the force needed to stop an attacker leads to his justifiable injury or death.
