Back Story

I saw an old western a while back where the town was condemning a man who shot a bad guy in the back because it wasn't a "fair fight." [More]

Of course, these were scripted, directed and acted by the same people who advocated shooting to wound, shooting guns out of hands, and putting an overhand throwing wrist spin on every pull of the trigger.

Besides, singing cowboys looked silly enough without eye and ear protection...

Me, if a bad guy is posing a lethal threat, I'd just as soon he doesn't even know I'm there, let alone armed, until he wakes up in Hell and someone tells him.

Remember the good ole western with Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe: "River Of No Return"? Mitchum shows the kid that back-shooting can definitely be legit and necessary.

Sounds like Gunsmoke "Milligan" 6 Nov. 1972. Harry Morgan was the somewhat inept, but honest farmer who stumbled upon the "Robin Hood" styled bank robber's hideout after being pressed to join a posse.

Look for Sorrell "Boss Hogg" as the school teacher.
