So... if the police kill an innocent, they "probably saved more lives", but when they go to the wrong place and let someone else murder people, then it probably didn't matter.

A human shield is only effective if the people shooting at you are too squeamish to shoot her ten times.
Stockton cops don't have any major hang-ups about shooting citizens. It's not as if anybody will blame them for the death of somebody that they shot.
