Texas House Speaker Joe Straus wants a committee of journalists to decide which reporters are “legitimate” so the Legislature can limit Capitol access to sufficiently apolitical reporters. [More]And who better than "real reporters/legitimate news media" to do that?
Straus, of course, is a "moderate Republican," that is, either a tool or the actual enemy.

Straus ascended to speaker with the votes of about a dozen turncoat Rs and sixty some odd Ds. Kind of tells you all you need to know about the Texas lege.
Straus will continue as speaker for the '15 session. The lily livered Rs will not go against him in numbers sufficient to run him off.
We'll see what happens in the senate when Dan Patrick comes in as Lite Guv.
