Though Ashley Turnbull admits she had received warnings at least a week in advance about the ordinance, she said there was no reason to beat her son's chicken to death with a shovel before decapitating it. [More]Sure there was. He made clear he could do it and there's not a damn thing you or anyone else could do to prevent it without bringing the entire force of the state down on you, didn't he?
The later apology (that actually wasn't) merely provided political cover for his masters.
Meanwhile, the headless chicken HuffPo PopoPuffers still insist on a monopoly of violence.

So, what rock has this woman been hiding under for the past ten years that she's never heard of puppycide?
“The chicken was like a puppy dog to my son,” Turnbull told West Central Tribune. “You wouldn’t do that to a puppy.”
Another thing I'd like to say: In my jurisdiction, killing a dog without a veterinary license can result in animal cruelty charges. I can only imagine what would happen if my county persecutor got wind of somebody taking out a chicken with a shovel.
