Blue Privilege

The link for the following is a couple years old, but I hadn't seen it before:
“A hostile campus climate has been the norm for Students of Color in this class throughout the quarter as our epistemological and methodological commitments have been repeatedly questioned by our classmates and our instructor,” the group’s letter reads. The statement accuses “the professor” (it does not identify Rust by name) of correcting “perceived grammatical choices that in actuality reflect ideologies” and “repeatedly questioning the value of our work on social identity and the related dynamics of oppression, power and privilege.” The “barrage of questions by white colleagues and the grammar ‘lessons’ by the professor have contributed to a hostile class climate,” it continues. [More]
Insist on proper grammar in a college course: You're a racist.

My wife showed me a paper she got points taken off of from her undergraduate days, from a class taught by an instructor who would have agreed. Written in red, in the margin next to a sentence about the Tigris and Euphrates was the question "What about Tanganyika?"

I dunno, what about it?

Apparently, while her ancestors were painting themselves blue and living in caves, East Africa had spaceports or something.

Above a reference to "early hominids" was the correction "You mean humanoids."

See, my guess was right! Spaceports!

No wonder "Sunshine" wants us dead.  Sounds like we deserve it.
