In other words, pay this fraud big bucks to come up with a high tech way to bolster self-delusion and denial. But why limit things to avatars? I'm thinking all the virtual stuff could drive some combination of this and Teddy Ruxpin...

Technonecromancy -- what a "progressive" idea.  Of course it might be cheaper just to bury the dearly departed in the Pet Sematary...

Millions of Americans, including me, serve a God that rightly proscribes necromancy, because it is evil. Not surprising that the Left is behind this ghoulish make-believe nonsense.
