We're the Only Ones Framing Enough

A federal jury on Wednesday found that D.C. police framed an innocent man for a 1981 rape and murder, making the District liable for damages after he was imprisoned for 27 years. [More]
No, the taxpayers are liable.

As for the perpetrators, this is one of those situations where the emotional side of me could live with crucifixion.

In some states it's a capital crime to kill a LEO, on the theory that cop-killing is an attack on the very fabric of our society and our justice system.

I think the same argument could be made about perjury and fabrication of evidence to falsely convict the innocent. It's an attack on the foundation of our justice system, and on our very freedom and way of life, and should be punishable by death.

And I no longer believe it makes a difference whether you write a phony speeding ticket or send an innocent man to prison for murder, if you do it, you give up your right to live in our society.
