We're the Only Ones Blameless Enough

Bradley said the department did a thorough internal investigation and found no one in particular is to blame for releasing Frustaci’s gun for destruction. [More]
I don't suppose anyone is responsible for proving it was actually destroyed, either.

Following secured stores procedures just ain't that difficult, people. If you want to follow them. Which is why my first thought isn't "negligence" or "honest mistake."

"It turns out Brighton police have demolished 109 firearms in 10 years -- all but one for legitimate reasons.

About as likely as me winning the Powerball lottery. Twice. Without buying a ticket.

There is only one legitimate reason to demolish a gun: if it is damaged beyond repair, and all parts are highly radioactive. Any other "reason" is a political lie or magical thinking (I know- same thing).
