I Spoke with Mike Vanderboegh Last Night

He called me from the hospital. He'll be coming home today.

We spoke for several minutes. He actually sounded good -- it was one of those periods when he could reach out and engage. That's why the choice to initiate contact should be his.

Our friend is a brave man. He knows that many are concerned and are asking about him. He knows a lot of us are grateful to benefit from his work and some of us are grateful to know him in person. He appreciates that and he appreciates knowing many of us give him special mention in our prayers.

As long as I had him on the phone, I brought up a couple points of "business":

Those of you who wish to make -- or continue making -- gratitude offerings, please do. I'd hesitated bringing it up the last few times because I wasn't sure if Rosey would be able to endorse a check made out to Mike or to access his Paypal account.  She'll be able to.

I've received inquiries about "Absolved," particularly if there is a link resource for all the posted chapters. I could update that, but knowing Mike was doing rewrites and how the draft may have value for his family, I didn't want to without checking first. Turns out that was the correct call to make.

More information will be forthcoming.

UPDATE: I had sad information I could not share when making the above post. Mike just called again this morning and cleared me to release it.

The doctors give him about a month.

4/15 UPDATE: Message from Mike...

Good to know. Thank you.
He sure sounds like he felt better than the last time you spoke with him.

Thanks for the update David, bad news and all.

I truly hope his family is able to finally publish Absolved. Not merely because I want to read it (which of course I do) but because it should go along way towards helping his family after he's gone. Thanks for the update David. It's appreciated.

All news is eventually bad news for each of us; we all should rejoice and thank God when it comes in good, there is so much wrong in the world, so much that could be much, much better.

Mike's life is exemplary for those who are on the wrong path today, and he sets a great example for those who turn away from the big lies surrounding us and make a conscious effort to search for and find the truth.

We are thankful for his work to make the world's wrongs right and for all of those who came alongside him to walk on the straight and narrow path as his friends. Mike's destiny is assured, his homecoming certain. Many who know him and those who love him will be left behind to contemplate their place, their responsibility and their opportunity to carry on a trail blazed so well.

Even though we knew... it's hard to accept. Will continue to think of him and his family often. And thanks, David, for the updates.

Thank You David !!! Painful news... our prayers continue for Mike, Rosey and and his family, will never forget meeting Mike when he was in San Antonio, TX at a rally and a small group when to Cedar Ridge Range to talk and shoot following the rally. I'm 85 now and will get to meet him again some day on the other side.
We pray he'll get more time to be with Rosey and take care of things with and for her.

Thank you David. Many are grateful to you for keeping us in the loop. Do you know if Mike is able to check his blog or email? Or where should we send encouragement?

As I've said in prior posts, please do not send him emails-- he can't get to them but he's the type who feels compelled to try. If you want to send him encouragement: Mike Vanderboegh, PO Box 926, Pinson, AL 35126. An enclosed token of appreciation would make it even more encouraging.

I've been praying that at least a few thugs in Fast & Furious could be brought to justice before Mike leaves us.

I had some issues with Mike when I was siding with Kerodin. When I realized the errors of my ways, I sent MBV an apology which he graciously accepted.
Mike reminded me that day of what being a man was all about.

The man is a fine Patriot and we are all better for his being with us. I pray for his future, for his discomfort to disappear, a miraculous intervention of the LORD to restore his health, and for his assurance of salvation.

Without Mike's penetrating understanding and moral compass, I would not have the understanding and commitment that I do today.

It will require the sum of all the testimonies and eulogies that are and will be written to approach doing him and his life's work the justice he deserves.

God Bless and Keep you, Mike, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I sincerely hope that in these dark days many will take his courageous activism as an example and a call to action!

Sorry to hear that Mike Vanderboegh's body is failing. May his spirit live forever.

I put together last July an index of Absolved chapters, with links to the original chapter pages and my local archive of those pages. I also created a minimally-HTML-marked-up copy of all available chapters in a single file (plus images). I have not made it public, as I've been waiting for Mike to release the book. I offered it to Mike back then, but he never responded to my email.

My prayers for Mike and his family.

I can only hope that hospice has been brought in to help Mike in his final days. As I know from personal experience, hospice nurses are angels of God who work to make the patient's last days as comfortable and pain-free as possible.
