Feeling safe is always the best option to Progressives. I prefer actual safety, saqfety brought about by situational awareness and being armed
The 'Rape Aggression Defense' class sounds like a winner.
Do participants each get a 'Special Snowflake Certificate of Completion' to show to their next attacker?
Elmo: they get to keep it with their rape whistles.
Unless rape whistles get banned too. The word "rape" has such a hostile connotation, and could "trigger" someone.
OC (pepper) spray isn't all that effective. If the badguy comes at the victim from upwind, the spray might blow back into the victim's eyes. As someone who was certified to carry OC (when I worked security) that stuff is wicked in the eyes. But 20% of the time (one shot in 5) the badguy just shakes it off and keeps on coming - only now he's really REALLY angry at the victim. I always practiced using it in my off hand with my gun hand ON THE GRIP of my sidearm! That way If the badguy didn't stop, I could drop the OC as I drew my sidearm and prepared to hit him with something he might not shake off so easily (165 gr. Speer Gold Dot moving at 1100 fps).
For the record I was NOT required to carry OC or a tactical baton. I wanted options between "Please don't do that, kind sir." and "Say goodnight, Gracie." Actually had to light a guy up with OC once. He was coming at me with a pool cue in his hand. I covered his face in pepper foam (longer range form of regular OC plus it foams and sticks like shaving cream) and he stopped, dropped the pool cue and went to his knees screaming about his eyes and face. I would have been completely justified in shooting him - AND WOULD HAVE - but the OC foam did the job.
