Welcome, Future Democrats!

Can we get you anything? Drop you off anywhere? [More]

As an aside, under what rationale does the Red Cross still ask blood donors what countries they've been to?

If memory serves, we're still subsidizing Haitians who fled the last hurricane/earthquake/whatever of 10 (?) yrs ago as 'temporary protected status'. They will never leave.

If I remember, from my time in the Navy (Retired in 1996), the where have you traveled question relates to whether you may have been exposed to a disease like malaria. If you contracted it, you could never donate blood. If you took the meds you could not donate for two or three years. There are other blood borne pathogens which are worse than Malaria (like AIDS), which are prevalent in certain regions of the earth. Maybe it is not such a stupid question

I don't think it's a stupid question at all. I'm just rhetorically asking what's the difference between us going over there or surrounding ourselves with unvetted Third Worlders here.
