STEMming the Flow

“In other words, women are so fragile that a syllabus with ‘unfriendly’ language would be enough to scare them out of pursuing the careers they would otherwise want to pursue. Men can handle taking a course even if a syllabus makes it sound ‘difficult,’ but women cannot because they are weaker and less confident.” [More]
Compare to:
"These fellows slogged through wet sandy beaches under a staggering load and into the face of withering machine gunfire and treacherous mines. Then, exhausted and terrified, they fought their way up heavily defended bluffs from which crack German troops rained down hell upon them.”
So how would poor dears too sensitive to handle the first scenario fare in the second?

You can't have it both ways.

I hear people say that Montana and Idaho are great places to move to - but I see many signs of 'Californization' in their ever increasing rules and regulations and don't think it is such a hot idea.
Besides, since they are so talked about, if problems start, they are the areas that will get more attention than others.
