And perhaps nothing displays the “Only Ones / us vs. them / we’ve got ours” mentality better than the naked hypocrisy of supporting nationwide carry for cops and retirees, but opposing it for “ordinary” citizens. FOP even wants special recognition status at NFL games, as if their main justification, “anger and, now that they must disarm, concern for their personal safety while attending football games,” does not apply to all gun owners who believe they have a right to keep and bear arms. [More]It's past time for the supposedly "pro-gun rank and file" to get their "leaders" in check.

I have yet to see a cogent, supportable argument that my right to keep and bear arms is diminished compared to a current or retired law enforcement officer. Why is anyone establishing a superior class of citizens that have more rights (or privileges for those who refuse to recognize that keeping and bearing arms without threat of arrest is a right) than others? I refuse to recognize that current and retired law enforcement officers are my "betters" and not my equals.
The now dead CCDL lawsuit had a few mention that the law established a "class of nobility" by allowing police to possess things the peasants couldn't. The suit died after Scalia did. I would have like to hear the Supreme Court's comments on that.
