I've long been an advocate for making "Food Stamps" ( in whatever form is in vogue ) redeemable only for american-produced basic food stuffs, cheap cuts of meat, fish and poultry, vegetables/fruits in season, basic seasonings like salt and pepper, basic baking supplies like flour, sugar, yeast, concentrated fats like unhydrongenated oils , butter, margarine . Add to that eggs, milk, and milk products like cheeses, sour cream and yogurts. NO PROCESSES FOODS ! NO LUXURY FOODS !
