ATF contacted US Customs & Border Protection and Immigration & Customs Enforcement to conduct a warrantless search of the warehouse since it was within the 100 mile Border Zone. [More]I like the way ACLU describes it:
In this 100-mile zone, Border Patrol agents have certain extra-Constitutional powers.Chew on that concept for a minute.

Ah! ... but what about STATE borders? Feds control Inter-State commerce etc. So the "Border Areas" cover a far greater percentage of the total ...

I don't believe that is a correct position. That warehouse was a business. CBP has the authority to enter buildings but not dwellings. In my career, we had to get a warrant to search a business. I do not think that has changed.
A good investigator would be able articulate probable cause and obtain a search warrant.
It's even worse then you think. Every Airport that has international flights has a Border at the customs desk. They just haven't started with that part yet
So much for that CON-stitution, eh ?
