We're the Only Ones Alerting Enough

The Federal Communications Commission today added a new alert option—called a “Blue Alert”—to the nation’s emergency alerting systems. Blue Alerts can be used by state and local authorities to notify the public of threats to law enforcement and to help apprehend dangerous suspects. [More]

I gotta tell ya, this whole business of alerts is a scattergun approach to a precision problem. I'd like to see a results analysis to include all expenditures and efforts.

My suspicion is effectiveness would be along the lines of successes from cigarette pack warnings.

If they use the blue alerts like the ambers, the bad guys will love it. Ding! "Oh look, they have my license plate. Time to ditch this car."
