Demeanor of March for Our Lives ‘Student Leaders’ Could be Movement’s Achilles’ Heel

It’s pretty obvious that the gun-grabbing feeding frenzy we see going on is as much based on a cult of personalities as it is on anything else, and that these immature personalities intent on controlling the rest of us have little interest in controlling themselves when they start to believe the adulation.  [More]

Ein Volk!
Ein Reich!
Ein Führer!

I think of all the icons who, at a young age, suddenly found themselves at the top of some social, athletic, or artistic heap under the permanent spotlight. The stereotypical progression from that point starts with hubris and runs through profligacy, insecurity, addiction, ignominy, ruin, a series of efforts at rehabilitation, and then a toss up among obscurity, pariahood, or self-destruction. I grieve over few who went that route (John Belushi and John Candy being two). The rest I patiently wait out. Some I eagerly look forward to.
