Let's think about this:

Elizabeth Warren claims Native American status. She is reviled and nationally ridiculed.

Rachel Dolezal, now Nkechi Amare Diallo, claims to be black woman, was in fact born white. She is reviled and nationally ridiculed (hence the name change).

A person with male genitalia decides to put on a dress and call himself a woman. Oooooh! We must respect this person's life choices.
