Aren’t we constantly lectured that immigrants come here to work and not to get on welfare? But these immigration lawyers and activists and researchers “estimate that more than 20 million immigrants could be affected.” [More]It's a cinch the ones whose interests that really serves aren't the ones footing the bill.

“that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare…”
I’m confused. What does “using Obamacare” mean, exactly?
As a self-employed worker, I used to have family medical insurance I paid for personally. The ACA destroyed that plan because it was (conveniently) “non-conforming” (government-speak for “not politically correct”). It also destroyed every other plan I attempted to pick up. I was left with ONLY Obamacare-approved plans, which in practice meant only Obamacare. I didn’t want them, but they were the only plans legally available. Did I “use Obamacare?” There were no alternatives. It’s like saying someone is a leech because he “used a government service” to obtain a carry permit, which he didn’t really want, but the government forced him to get in order to exercise his rights.
Like Henry, legal resident aliens are REQUIRED to use Obamacare or pay the penalty.
Illegal aliens are exempt from the Obamacare penalties. Yep, we have a federal law that literally provides a financial reward for being in this country illegally.
