What was the “public art”that was not to be photographed?
It was the “Rainbow Swash” - a white LNG tank painted in rainbow colors designed by artist Corita Kent in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The ironic part is that if the photographer in the following article had panned slightly left, the background would have included the JFK Presidential Library, the Massachusetts State Archives building and the University of Massachusetts at Boston campus with the downtown Boston skyline in the distance:
