Republicans Rolling Over on Farm ‘Amnesty’ Helping Advance Anti-Gun Agenda

I've posted a challenge on my War on Guns blog that has gone deliberately ignored and unanswered by national and state gun groups and their apologists for years. They know they can't address it without exposing their deliberate indifference as against their members' interests, and I say that here daring them to offer a responsive rebuttal. [More]
Look at what happened to once-Republican California and the rest of the country after Ronald Reagan signed the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty, and what increasing Democrat majorities are doing to guns as state demographics change.

The Simpson-Mazzoli double cross was worse than that.

1. As part of the compromise, the E-verify program was to be established and made mandatory nation wide, thereby reducing if not eliminating the "jobs magnet" drawing illegals north across the border. E-verify was established, but it is voluntary, and 30+ years later is not in effect in all states. Florida is one example just now considering making E-verify mandatory.

2. The border was to be hardened to make it physically harder to cross than simply walking across a parking lot in some of the border cities but as we've seen, that has been like nailing jelly to a tree. Opponents on both sides of the aisle have been dragging their feet and claiming that cameras and sensors can be as effective as a physical barrier. I would bet that all of them have doors that can be closed and locked on their personal residences putting the lie to that concept.

3. In order to reach a compromise agreement on points 1 & 2 above, Democrats who insisted on an amnesty for illegals already in the country agreed that the Simpson Mazzoli amnesty would be a one time only event. After all, with the border hardened and the "jobs magnet" removed, there would never be a need for any further amnesty as illegal immigration would be stopped. That worked out just great, didn't it?

But as we've seen, and as any Native American would happily tell you, the promises made by FedGov amount to a load of hot air and are often in the process of being broken before they're even made.

You comment is spot-on DDS.
BTW: I just now rec'd a call from "the Republican National Committee" asking me, "Mr. Gullible American" for a "gift" of $250 to 'help' Mr. Trump... Instead I gave the poor millennial who called me, a piece of my mind. Explaining to the clueless one how the Republicans hover at around 80% liars and thieves, while the Democrats are at around 98% "Two sides of the SAME coin: I told him... He swooned... and after a couple minutes,..he deflected back to his scripted spiel at me and hung up. Gee...

There has never been a government agency or bureaucracy that has done what it promised, and nearly all (if not all) are running a very serious deficit.

I love my country dearly,..I HATE my government.
