Misinformation?

Fact check: Did the coronavirus originate in a Chinese laboratory? [More]
Agreed, it's incumbent on accusers to back up their allegations.

If only I could believe USA Today...

UPDATE [Via Wynn A]: On the other hand, we have Francis Boyle, a professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law, who "believes the virus is potentially lethal and an offensive biological warfare weapon or dual-use biowarfare weapons agent genetically modified with gain of function properties, which is why the Chinese government originally tried to cover it up and is now taking drastic measures to contain it. The Wuhan BSL-4 lab is also a specially designated World Health Organization (WHO) research lab and Dr. Boyle contends that the WHO knows full well what is occurring."

Note if his interpretation is attacked, see how much of the rebuttal focuses on what he's claiming as opposed to on his "contrarian" politics.

If true, it looks like there's plenty of incentive on both sides to suppress this information.

UPDATE [Via Michael G]: And then we have the Stanford epidemiologist, who argues the overreaction is "like an elephant being attacked by a house cat." If he's attacked, see how much of the rebuttal focuses on what he's claiming as opposed to his hair.

There is no doubt that the People's Republic of China government lies when it serves their interests to do so.

There is also no doubt that the government of The United States lies when it serves their interests.

Both could take a lesson from USA Today on the effective use of the big lie.

In other words, we're on our own, as we always have been. Believe in yourselves.
