It's tough for a layperson to "take sides" when the truth requires such specialized understanding. That, as much as anything, reflects on the incompetent and corrupt state of the establishment media, both in terms of breaking things down and of what to call attention to.
And an uninformed, misinformed, and/or easily-distracted public is a manipulable (and unworthy) public.
