The Los Angeles County Public Health Director is Dr. Barbara Ferrer, but local residents expecting a virologist, molecular biologist, or epidemiologist at the helm would be disappointed. That $465K is her 2020 base salary. Last year, as in previous years, she also earned an additional $82,341 in 'Other Pay', plus almost $63K in benefits.
But I'm sure if you asked her she'd tell you that she's worth every one of those 585,134 dollars that she cost the taxpayers of California, all of whom she would love to control like just like she does the taxpayers of L.A.
Not bad for a glorified social worker.
