The No-Win Scenario

If you believed that your property was at risk of being stolen or damaged by intruders, it would not be unreasonable to call the police when you saw suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Does that explain why Gregory McMichael and his son thought it would be a good idea to grab their guns and set off in pursuit of Arbery? No, except that there apparently was concern about crime in the neighborhood and — just speculating here — maybe the senior McMichael, an ex-cop, was feeling ornery that Sunday afternoon. [More]
That to me is the crux of all this and the reason I have not discussed the story beyond that point despite numerous link submissions over the past few days.

That said, I'm not sure sending instant obedience-demanding groundhog assassins after him would have had a different outcome.

And that said, it's pretty obvious what the race hustlers are trying to turn this into:

He was also familiar with Arbery's previous criminal record. He still acted carelessly by letting his son approach Arbery armed and without much awareness of how to do so safely.

He got too close for one thing and he wasn't prepared to have someone come at him because he was armed. This is lack of training and TV mindset.

We see it on tv all the time. Person pulls out a gun and sticks it in someone's face and instantly they freeze and drop to the ground or whatever. If the gun is closer to them than 10 feet (more would be better) they have a chance with an inexperienced person of at least deflecting and possibly disarming that person.

And that's what happened. Apparently they did not do anything that put them as liable for an illegal act thus giving Arbery a justified right to defend himself. Apparently the couldn't even prove assault as otherwise they could not claim self defense or lack of negligence either of which would have gotten them at least a charge of manslaughter.

This has been blown out of proportion and we can thank a known race huckster and race incident fraudster Shaun King and his lawyer pal as they are where the media is getting the possibly edited video we've all seen. They've done this before and gotten caught at it.

So unless there's some actual proof against the first investigation this may turn out to be nothing. And btw it has disappeared from the news relatively and that may be because the facts that are coming out do not prove the narrative.

Not having been there, your guess is as good as mine on what really went on. And what the result would be.
