An Inside Job

Phelps declined to discuss whether cameras in the garage area might have captured anything of value but noted NASCAR has an approved list of who is allowed access that has been turned over to authorities. [More]
Dare I suspect the perpetrator might not actually be sympathetic to the Confederate flag, and that the motivation may have been more to convince those inclined to stop buying tickets to side with the ban instead?

UPDATE: Pretty damn convenient "misunderstanding."

I wonder how much effort the DSM will put into clearing it up so that everyone they triggered will know to stand down.

CNN is still reaching.

Things to ponder: Having worked for ISC and in the garages at 'Dega, something is not right here. Access is very tightly controlled via 24/7 manned access points and all access is via photo id to the garage area (save for uniformed on duty law enforcement).

Story going around that someone on the 43 team mistook the garage door pull handle for a noose (they are rope like the ones on your garage door, but instead of a "T" handle they have a grab loop at the end) and ran to NASCAR Officials about it. Could this have snowballed out of control? No way to walk it back now. Which raises the question, did the team member have an agenda?

Can Wallace prove he didn’t hang it?
