What is different is that the media bothered to report on the shootings at all. That's way out of their normal behavior. Perhaps ignoring hundreds of deaths a year has become more embarrassing than reporting them?
Either way it adds pressure on a government run by and for Democrats to explain why, while black lives matter, some black lives obviously matter more than others.
It is interesting that the reports of the incident don't mention races involved, instead the spin is that the driver of a luxury vehicle hits and kills a protestor.
