‘Gun Owners for Trump' Could be Valuable if President Welcomes Right Voices

I want the advisory board to be everything its name implies. I want them to be influencers. I want the president to be able to call them out by their first names, and to heed what they have to say. And I also want the questions and concerns I raised about how they’re picked, how they operate, how they communicate and how gun owners can communicate to them addressed. [More]

The first question is, will it really be an advisory board that has the president's ear? The next question is how can the rest of us make sure the board will represent and give voice to all our concerns?

First time in a long time that I have seen Chris Cox mentioned. He disappeared for a while.

Thank you David. Your column was well researched and reasoned. Shame I cannot post a comment there.

Since at least the 1940's the Democratic Party has used African Americans. They show up around election time, pledging support, promising to overturn injustices, and so forth. But when the elections are over, African Americans who show up to claim their places under the Democratic "Big Tent" are shown to their seats, in the back rows. Then they are told to sit down and shut up because giving them what they were promised would be just too hard or inconvenient.

Now go back over the above paragraph, this time replacing "African Americans" with "gun owners" and "Democratic" with "Republican" and you'll see pretty much the same pattern.

National concealed carry reciprocity? Nope!

DOJ pursuit of state 2A infringements? Nope!

Repeal of ANY of the crust of infringements that have been allowed to accumulate over the years? Fuggeddaboutit!

BTW, you can probably still get a copy of this report

https://www.amazon.com/Right-Keep-Bear-Arms/dp/1581602545

from the government printing office. You could become one of the perhaps 12 people who have actually read it! The hard-copy would probably make a good doorstop. It didn't go anywhere either.

So, color me "not really interested" in yet another Second Amendment blue ribbon commission. It will shrivel up and blow away just like the last one, and the one before that. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, use it to wax my truck.

Prove me wrong, Mr. President!
