It sounds like he almost took the bullet for himself, which makes me wonder why Alan thinks he's the perfect pick for promoting gun ownership.
As for Kushner, he is probably the biggest mistake of the Trump presidency and it won't surprise me in the least to find his hand had been secretly undermining the old man when it served his interests.
