You've seen the "estimated street value" horse poop associated with drug busts. In order for one person to rake in that estimate they would have to roll a multi kilo pot stash into joints and sell them individually. The illegal drug market simply doesn't work that way. Never has, never will. So those estimates by law enforcement and the media sound like they're made by people doing drugs, not people busting drug smugglers.
Ditto for the projections of the projections of American gun owners who will comply with the proposed new laws, and the projections of the tax revenue due the US Treasury if ALL of the "assault weapons" and ALL of the "high capacity ammunition feeding devices" were taxed under the NFA.
This in spite of the 20% compliance in the 4 states who have led the way so far. If the best they can get out of 4 of the bluest of the blue states is 20%, who in their right mind would predict any higher compliance in Texas or the nation as a whole?
Does anyone think they'd get a Las Vegas bookie to take that bet?
