Major US mall owner files for bankruptcy [More]
I checked out three of their properties at random just to confirm what I knew I would find:
- Ocala, FL: "Firearms or other weapons of any kind."
- Maplewood, MN: "Firearms or other weapons of any kind."
- Bloomingdale, IL: "Firearms or other weapons of any kind."
Forgive me if I'm not sympathetic to their financial difficulties, but that makes me recall the Goldfinger truism.

The Ocala mall may prohibit "Firearms or other weapons of any kind", but the state of Florida does not enforce that or similar signage. At most, mall management may explicitly direct you to leave if somehow they detect that you have a concealed weapon, but that is then enforcement of a "no trespass".
You will notice that they can not and do not guarantee your safety while on their property, so their lack of customers in their malls may be in some part a direct response to their policy. No amount of alcohol-based hand sanitizer can help that.
