The TX Ds pulled a stunt like this in 2003, to bust redistricting.

Then Gov. Perry called several special sessions and eventually a D came back to Austin, gave it up and insured quorum to pass the deal.
Abbott will call a special session, we'll see what happens next. I'd bet on a very watered down bill that will preserve the clearly illegal voting changes put in for 2020 particularly in Harris County.
