Why leave them unnamed? Wouldn't it be more credible for all concerned if we knew who they were and what their agenda might be-- and at least be able to make sure that this whole thing hasn't been set up to "disprove" one accuser and use that to discredit all others? Because that's sure what The Times is making this look like, especially by referring to anyone who questions the election results as "vigilantes."
At least they didn't use "baseless" this time, introducing instead an adjective that implies deception, "spurious."
