According to Heinlein, regardless of what you may have been led to believe, three main organizations rule the world.
1. The Practical Joke Department
2. The Chinese Fire Drill Department.
Those two big powerful department control about 99% of what happens in the world. But down in a sub basement resides a very small, very elite, very powerful department known as The Fairy Godmother Department. No one, repeat no one, gets what they want, or need, much less deserve, without an OK from The Fairy Godmother Department.
Mexican cartels have some experience busting folks out, wonder if they're open to take this job?
Good on Reps Greene and Gohmert on gaining entry and witnessing the actual (albeit scrubbed and repainted) conditions in the J6 wing.
However...
I believe they focused far too heavily on the "If you have nothing to hide, then show us" argument. Both of them should know what a dangerous precedent that sets.
The reality is very simple, as pointed out later in the document: Congress has a duty and prerogative to oversee those facilities, including conducting walk-through tours and inspections. Their request should never have been a "request," and also should never have been allowed to devolve into "If you have nothing to hide...."
While I believe that the DOC and DC Jail are trying to conceal the J6 protesters' conditions, that's an accusation for later, in federal court. Congress members have a right and duty to oversee DC Jail operations and the demand to tour and inspect the jail should have been couched entirely within that context. (Although I admit, the threat to contact the media was a nice touch.)
