'I Find Myself to be Exorbitantly Superannuated for This Feculence'

Trying to set up the new site has been an exercise in pure frustration. It sure adds a whole new dimension to "A man's gotta know his limitations."

Nothing about it is intuitive.  You'd think if you pressed an "Edit" icon you'd be able to edit, or if you tried to delete something it would delete.

I want the simplest site in the world-- a home page, an about page with info and contact, both of which will remain static, and a blog that lets me do regular updates like I do here. They've got so many different things to choose from, none of which explain what they're talking about or define terms they just assume you know. And my personal favorite -- tutorials that tell you to select options that appear nowhere on the page I've accessed.

Word Press has discarded the classic interface and replaced it with a block thingy they say is simpler and has me ready to scream-- I have a few times already.  Forget trying to chat or call "tech support"-- they only do tech stuff and I miss half of what they're saying just through accents alone. I think I'm going to need to hire a local to come in for a day to set me up -- I know some of you have kindly offered to advise but that's something I can't do long distance because there's too much I just don't get.

Ammoland is still up. Western Rifle Shooters has been booted off more sites than many of us can count. I'd see if I could pick their brains. See if they can tell you what worked, what didn't, and what they'd do differently if they had to start over.

Even the worst bosses I've ever had sometimes came up with a bit of wisdom.

In the case I'm thinking of, one of mine said "Sometimes you just have to call the plumber."

You've got a list of other blogs down the left side of your page. See if they know a pro they would recommend to get you up and running with a minimum of hassle, pain, and expense.

Just don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good enough.
